In this Roundtable session, we will discuss the latest workforce development challenges for new as well as experienced cybersecurity workers. We'll dive into how universities can and should be collaborating with credential bodies and their local chapters in a win-win scenario for skills training and career advancement. Participants will be equipped with insights into areas such as skill alignment, collaboration models and diversity initiatives.

This dynamic panel aims to foster an insightful dialogue among distinguished subject matter experts, each hailing from diverse sectors of academia and industry. With a spotlight on the alignment and potential misalignment between industry requirements for cybersecurity talent and the educational offerings provided by higher-education institutions, this session will explore the multifaceted landscape of cybersecurity workforce development.

Learning Objectives:

  • For the Practitioner: Learn how to align your skillset to match business needs. Additionally, leverage hard and soft skills through your local chapter, and understand the value in pursuing industry credentials and/or university degrees.
  • For the Employer/Hiring Manager: Learn how to successfully leverage schools for talent pipeline. Also, understand the value of a candidate having industry certifications/a university degree vs. experience. And learn to improve your candidate pipeline by working with your local chapter.
  • Understand how industry representatives, certification bodies and local chapters can work together to improve workforce development collaborations.
